Antihero Brooke Worthing

Antiheros were not only used in ancient literature but can be seen in some of the most popular literature and movies today. I believe that an antihero can be viewed in the modern collection of the popular Harry Potter series. In this series the antihero is not the antagonist or even the villain. In these novels the antiheros actions maybe questioned and looked at negatively through out some parts of the play. Snape is this character in which the qualities that make up such a hero can be seen. An antihero is someone who someone who is classified as a hero because they pursue or in some cases actually obtain a heroic goal. However, they do so by using ways of obtaining this goal that are seen as negative and villainous. An example of this would be the in the plot twisting scene when Snape kills the famous and respected, Dumbledore. He carries out this villainous and sick act, which can be seen as a negative thing. However, this was all part of a heroic plan that was formed between the two cunning wizards to save Harry and keep the evil at bay. Also, in general Snape's actions were rather malicious towards some of his students, colleges, and a number of others. Yet, all of these seemingly hurtful actions were done in good favor and for a positive outcome. It is known that Snape was a part of the "good side" of wizards and witches. Even though some of his actions may be questionable in action, the positive purpose and pursuit behind them was not always evident at first, but was made known.
